About the Band

JelloHat's high octane performance combines an upbeat blend of original and cover material spanning the gamut from the Grateful Dead to the Neil Diamond. The alt-country sound was labeled an "Austin-sounding band" by San Francisco locals, where JelloHat has packed crowds at the Hotel Utah, Mad Dog in the Fog, the Pioneer Inn, and Sweetwater Saloon in Mill Valley. Often dubbed "electric horse funk," JelloHat delivers twangy, blues-drenched, funk-infused rockin' American music.

JelloHat's Tahoe shows in the late 90s earned the attention of the Tahoe/Reno local press. Fans from as far away as San Francisco and Reno packed the sunny deck of Alpine Meadows Ski Resort for two days of energetic tunes spanning funk, R&B, country, folk and of course, good ol' rock'n'roll. Described as a "…loose, twangy rock sound underpinned with a funky groove," (Reno Gazette-Journal), JelloHat has also performed several times at the "Salty" Gebardt Amphitheater in Truckee Regional Park. This outdoor Summer Music Series typically draws about 1,100 people per show, and attracts such well-known talent as Vinyl, Larry Yates & the Blues Monsters, Jeff Pershing Band and Kim Lubelle and the LeBelle Boys. JelloHat has also been selected to participate in the University of Nevada Reno music series "Sounds of the City" in October, 1999.

Band Members

Frequent Guest Stars:

Hatfield and Gelormini have been making music together for over 16 years. On the band's debut album Cocktails?, JC Reed is also featured. (North Shore-Truckee Action declared that Reed's driving solos "…may make this band worth seeing all by himself.") The result is a high energy live performance featuring tight, well-honed numbers and great music liberally peppered with twangy guitar licks, exuberant saxophone solos, and wah-wah slide guitar riffs for a funked-up cross between Dire Straits and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

The band's most recent CD, Fish Tales, was released in 2000 and features all current members as well as JC Reed and slide guitar virtuoso Brad Bechtel. Both CDs were produced by Chris Isaak's legendary guitarist Hershel Yatovitz.
